Carbon neutrality and problems of RES development in Europe

DOI: 10.33917/mic-5.100.2021.80-86

The article analyzes the balance between Europe’s desire for carbon neutrality and energy security. The problems of using renewable energy sources (RES) in Europe arising from unstable weather have been identified. It is concluded that the volume of renewable energy production up to 50% and above, as planned by the EU, is not justified due to the unreliability of renewable energy – dependence on the weather. According to the author’s preliminary assessment, in order to ensure the energy stability of the country, RES should produce no more than 30% of electricity.

Carbon intensity of natural gas and electricity, development of renewable energy sources in Russia and abroad

DOI: 10.33917/mic-3.98.2021.57-64

The analysis of methods for reducing the carbon intensity of pipeline gas and LNG and the development of renewable energy for the long term in Russia and the world is given. Considerable attention is paid to the conflict of interests of the German parties around the «Nord Stream 2» gas pipeline, which is particularly evident before the elections to the German Bundestag, which will be held on September 26, 2021.

The conclusion about the great environmental friendliness and economy of the «Nord Stream 2» is justified.

The analysis of the long-term program for the development of LNG production in the Russian Federation, adopted by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation on March 16, 2021, is given.

The impact of CO2 emissions on the prices of Gazprom’s LNG and pipeline gas in Europe and the world (analytical review)

DOI: 10.33917/mic-2.97.2021.75-82

In November 2021, the climate summit of the countries participating in the Paris Climate Agreement will be held. It should be taken into account that the energy and carbon intensity of LNG production during its liquefaction and transportation can be significant. Carbon neutral LNG adds a «Green premium» to the LNG price of 17-37 % of the value of the LNG cargo in the current spot market. The «Green premium» can be estimated at 0,8–$ 1.7/MMBtu or $ 10-20/t of CO2 for removing CO2 from LNG.

The article shows that the carbon intensity of American LNG in Europe is 3 times higher than that of Russian pipeline gas.

Decline in Russian gas exports and prices to Europe in 2020 and their forecast until 2030

DOI: 10.33917/mic-1.96.2021.62-71

The article provides research on Russian natural gas drastic decrease in volume and prices in Europe in 2020, specifically Gazprom piped gas. The key factors of such decrease are economic growth slowdown due to pandemic, warm weather and competition with US LNG. At the end of the year, US LNG shifted focus to Asia markets, where the demand and prices for LNG increased. 2030 outlook for natural gas volumes and prices sourced from Russia and US LNG to Europe is given.

On the impact of Nord stream 2 on the EU natural gas market (analytical review)

DOI: 10.33917/mic-3.92.2020.76-81

The article analyses key questions of the impact of Nord Stream 2 on the European markets.

Currently, Nord Stream 2 is one of the key international conflicts, where USA and Poland are project opponents, and Russia and key European countries are project supporters.

In the article [1] it is shown, that Nord Stream-2 launch in 2020 will reduce gas prices for all 28 EU countries by 13% with low global LNG demand and by 32% with high global LNG demand. Significant price reductions will be also received by Nord Stream 2 opponents, such as Poland. LNG imported from USA will be suffering the most.

Us shale oil and gas (analytical review)

DOI: 10.33917/mic-6.89.2019.51-57

The article analyzes the Russian system of accounting for the decommissioning of oil fields, its compliance with IFRS standards, defines the features of financial accounting for decommissioning, proposes approaches to measuring the reserves for decommissioning of oil fields and criteria for their evaluation, provides an example of calculating the reserves for decommissioning.

Development of the methodological foundations for the creation and development of the closed energy complex of the Kuril Islands based on the use of renewable energy sources

The article outlines the methodological foundations for the creation and development of the closed energy complex of the Kuril Islands in the Sakhalin Region based on the use of local types of renewable energy sources (RES). An estimate of the expected economic effect from the use of renewable energy is given.

Technology and cost structure of gas pipelines and regulation of profit margins (analytical review)

DOI: 10.33917/mic-2.91.2020.57-66

The necessity of actualization the concepts in part of stomatological practice in a changing economic paradigm is substantiated. A conceptual apparatus has been developed that reflects the role, place and functionality of dental practice in the economy of our country. The semantic load of the specified categories corresponds to the prevailing economic conjuncture and established norms of economic practice. The use of specified categories in professional activities will allow scientists and practitioners to avoid misunderstandings, to achieve mutual understanding regarding the interpretation of organizational, economic, regulatory, medical, dental, and other aspects of the studied type of activity.Right arrangement of content will contribute to the intensive development of dental practice and the solution of priority tasks in terms of its regulation.

Impact of prices on imported and domestic natural gas supplies to China

The article identifies the problems of pricing in China for the transportation of natural gas local and imported from Central Asia, as well as imported and local liquefied natural gas (LNG). The works of foreign authors on this subject are analyzed. The author concludes that currently it is necessary to take into account the import of gas to China through the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, which will supply 38 billion m3 of Russian gas per year for the Eastern regions of China, as well as other new gas import projects from Russia to China, which will make a significant contribution to the implementation of China’s plans to switch from coal to gas and improve the environmental situation in the country.
