Investment Attractiveness of the Russian Energy Sector for Foreign Investors: Assessment and Recommendations

The article analyses the investment attractiveness of the Russian energy sector for foreign investors. Analysis is based on such indicators as the volume of energy resources’ production and export as well as their dynamics, foreign direct investment in the country’s energy industry, portfolio investment in the “green” energy industry. The author draws up a conclusion that despite the exports decrease in the main types of energy resources (oil, gas, coal, energy) over the past few years (2020–2021), Russia continues to play a leading role in the global fuel and energy complex, the volume of foreign direct investment in industry is steadily growing, the “green” energy industry is actively developing. The author also dwells on the difficulties that foreign investors have to face when investing in the Russian energy sector. The present study results in identifying the main directions for improving investment attractiveness of the Russian energy sector for potential foreign investors.

Investment attractiveness of Saint Petersburg as its competitive advantage

The purpose of the article is determined by the need to identify the types of activities in which investment will provide an intensive path of development of St. Petersburg. The article analyzes the competitive advantages of the investment attractiveness of St. Petersburg. The analysis is based on the provisions of the Strategy of socio-economic development of St. Petersburg for the period up to 2035 and assessments of national ratings of regions. The author’s definition of the investment attractiveness of the region is given, which determine the competitive advantages of the region as an opportunity to invest in activities that provide an intensive path of development of the region.

Тhe article attempts to summarize the system knowledge that allows forming a modern understanding of the possibilities of obtaining the desired effect of investment, as well as the investment attractiveness of the enterprise. The financial performance indicators of PJSC NOVATEK are analyzed, the investment attractiveness of the company is assessed, a set of measures that disclose its investment capital is determined, measures to intensify innovation activities are proposed.
