Economic and Political Strategy of the British East India Company: Complementarity or Mutual exclusion?

The article deals with correlation between the trade and the power nature of the East India Company (1600–1874) as a key agent of the British Empire in Asia. The main stages of its activity are traced, transformation of its strategies and goals is explained. If in the first century and a half economic and political strategies of the company complemented each other with priority of the first, then with the company’s institutional mutation in the middle of the XVIII century there emerged tension between strategies arose. The company’s coming to power in Bengal, establishment of state control over the company and the British industrial revolution not only brought the company’s political strategies to the forefront, but replaced its economic goals with political ones, transforming the company into an instrument of governing India

Levan Longinozovich Stazhadze is a well-known Soviet and Russian anesthetist, doctor of medical sciences, professor, academician of the International Academy of Astronautics. He headed the country’s first department of resuscitation at the Institute of Emergency Care named after N.V. Sklifosovsky, and in 1972-1987 – the department of medical support of manned space flights at the Institute of Biomedical Problems. Together with professor L.G. Kostomarova L.L. Stazhadze is the organizer of the Moscow Disaster Medicine Service and to this day works as the chief researcher in the Center for Emergency Medical Aid, created by them at the Moscow Health Department. Levan Longinozovich is one of those interlocutors who can be listened to for hours, and there will never be enough time to learn about all the amazing details of his biography – sad, funny, edifying, historically significant – often it is referred to very important facts of national history. The names of people, whom he knew well, are known to everybody or to plenty of people. Institutes were named in honor of some of them, while others, on the contrary, became ominous symbols of a bygone era. Today, serious miscalculations in management are associated with ignoring statistics as a powerful tool that makes it possible in the conditions of unprecedented growth of information flows and, in particular, inadequate information, to fairly and reliably analyze trends and dependencies, as well as predict social and economic phenomena and processes. Moreover, it is necessary to recognize that, at present, the statistical literacy of analyst experts, as well as officials, managers of various levels, politicians and ordinary citizens, is at a level that does not allow to solve topical practical problems of statistical support of management processes, correctly read / interpret statistical information. In this context, it is necessary to pay special attention to the preservation and gradual restoration of statistical education and the image of statistics as a whole

New Formats of the Post-Global World

Analysis of national projects laid out by the RF Government allows to claim that this project set will not be the very breakthrough strategy, the need for development and implementation of which was stressed by the President of the Russian Federation, at least because the breakthrough can only be “whereto”. And “what for”. These questions should have been met by the Strategy for Social and Economic Development (SED) of Russia. The strategy itself, in turn, was supposed to rely on a basic national concept, such as the GOELRO Plan, the Space Project and others, and the strategic forecast through levels “World” – “Country” – “Region”, which would indicate critical changes. The latter were supposed to serve as a scenario framework for the strategy, to highlight those key potentials, the development of which would provide the greatest positive effect. In addition, the strategic forecast should have outlined the scenario forks as those points where management decisions are necessary. But strategic forecast, commissioned by the RF Ministry of Economic Development, does not meet these requirements and cannot serve as a basis for a new SED Strategy. Digital Economy in the Strategy of Production Integration in Russia

The article formulates conceptual provisions revealing the strategy of production integration in the context of the Russian economy digitalization; the paper justifies the logic of its formation as a socio-economic vector, contributing to creation of the digital economy, ensuring the growth of competitive advantages of Russian enterprises and the economy as a whole; the author reviews foreign experience of the strategy of production integration and integrated structures formation, which should be taken into account in domestic practice; the article analyzes functional strategies of production integration in the Russian economy; the paper substantiates the role of cluster integration, contributing to creation of innovative territorial clusters as a growth factor for the digital economy, which contributes to creating and applying digital technologies, as well as to formation of a new digital platform in the production integration strategy with the aim of improving social and economic situation in the Russian Federation
