Vologda region — the state-forming territory of the Russian empire: historical and patriotic discourse of the IX-XVI centuries

The issues of the history of the Vologda Region are considered in the context of the development of Russian statehood during the 9th –16th centuries. Attention is focused on the political, legal, historical and cultural contribution of the region to the formation and strengthening of the unified Russian state, historical factors of the development of the region as a sovereign, state-forming territory are identified.
